Just got married and heading out to Thailand tomorrow for 3 weeks. Anybody got any good tips for places to go/see/do while down on the islands? I have all the boring travel books but am hoping to maybe dig up a treasure here on NT.

Koh Tao is beautiful, i went there two months ago - you acan scuba dive and party all you want, and it's not too crowded and dirty like other islands.

if you go out to islands- make sure you keep hoping, you don't want to get stuck at god awful places like Patong.

cngrats!
have an awesome time - it will be hard not to
Koh Tao IS awesome - try and steer clear of the tourist/backpacker traps - ask locals as many questions as you can as they will often put you on the track to some beutiful spots

i went way back in 95. I spent a lot of time there that summer...good times. my favorite place was Krabi. the only way to get to this penninsula at the time was to boat in. it was cheap as hell, quiet and besides the beautiful beach there, you could go climbing, hiking, scuba and all that stuff.
course this was all 10 years ago. maybe it's totally different.

Having seafood, swimming and lay down on the beach with your wife at the south part of Thailand will be your wonderful time ever !
Everthing is cheap comparing to USA.
It's good to stay away from computer and enjoy nature.
I love Thailand and will back there soon.
Welcome to Thailand and enjoy your trip !

when I was there a few years ago I really liked a small island called Koh Phi Phi...
Two beautiful bays on either side of a tiny little village.. separated by about 100m walk.. Can get there easily from Krabi..

Excellent choice of country.
You absolutely must visit Kanchanaburi, a 2 hour bus north of Bangkok. It's where the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai is, its very eerie and suprisingly not subjected to mass tourism like the islands are.
Whilst in Kanchanaburi, you also must visit the Erawan national park. It has a seven tier waterfall which is so beautiful, some of my best photographs are from there.
Also, the dark horse for an amazing island experience is Ko Chang, it's near the Cambodian border but is Thailand's Island of beauty, 70% untouched by man! And the beach is so chilled ... I broke me arm there and it was deflation personified!
You'll love it
