It's laughable. The fight scenes rock but the rest is really, REALLY bad.
The final scend (not to spoil) the woman befriends the/a predator (wtf!?! they're buddies?!?) and they are running together no fucking shit in slow motion like something from baywatch. I initiated the audience laughter then the theater errupted. Looked like Ricky Williams and Condoleza Rice running on the beach in Baywatch. TERRIBLE!

just got back from the movie.
"your enemy's enemy is your friend."does tthat explain how bad the movie was? if not, continue...
it was the worst movie i have seen since 1992...and that was weekend at bernies 2!
the only reason i went is because my creative director let us all leave work early and paid for our tickets. still not worth it haha :)

It was damn decent, I thunk. What do you want? Academy Award™ Nomination? Why does it have to have good acting and a fantastic storyline? We wanted action and we got it!

I was excited about it until I found out how low the budget was for the movie. Then I found out the director was the guy that did Residen Evil... need I say anymore.

I am ready to go see that. Me and a buddy are very excited about it. Anyone who does see it give a review please.

yo see my review above. hard to review a movie with no plot or point.

not every movie has to have a oscar winning plot do they? that would be boring.. i dont care much for whats been said about the movie, i'll decide for myself if its good or not

Off the bat I have to say; I thought the movie was excellent. I rated it straight A's across the board and even at the expense of good writing I'm going to try to contain my enthusiasm and keep this review as short as I can.
The acting was top notch. God, I could just REALLY feel Weyland's passion for archeaology as well as anthropology and Lex's conflict between leading a team safely and following her instincts was just wrenching. What a fantastic character, that can care so much for people even though they met roughly an hour earlier. Not to mention the scene where that one guy died, I forget his name now, but at the time I was quite upset.
In retrospect I believe it was the script that really made this film a gem. While it provided ample opportunities for 1 and a half minute action scenes it also gave the actors space to flex and really create the story. Lines like "Preparing....for what?" and "It's called a Hunter's Moon." really pushed this movie to the next level, intellectually I mean, easily on par with John Amiel's 2003 classic, The Core. (I realize other critics might say that AVP is not quite on The 'Core' level but what can I say, I'm just a sucker for good foreshadowing techniques)
The flick did a good job of giving emotion to a movie monster known for and popular because of his total lack of emotion so I really must congratulate Anderson on his ability to take everything I love about a cool chatacter and just.......change it.
And to rap up, in fairness, I will say that I feel the movie could have benefitted from a few minor changes, foremost I would have liked to see more "holographic transition scenes." You know, more scenes where the Predators are looking at a holograph of the temple and then suddenly that image fades into the real thing. (I know you all agree).
Anyways, moving along from that minor hinderance, I say this movie is a fantastic effort, the highlight of Directer Paul Anderson's already shining career. Go see it.
Cue hero and female costar running in slo motion ahead of a finale explosion.........wait.......wai... cue suprise attack from final "super"-villain.
