Be sure to visit the newly-finished Millenium Park.
As far as beers go, it depends on your taste in bars. Like all cities, there are overpopulated trendster places, out-of-the-way places and touristy places (basically anything on Rush Street).

This coming weekend Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie are playing at a street festival.
Outdoor festivals here are alot of fun and happen all summer long.
Want to make this one but my band will be recording all weekend and doubt we'll have time to go.If no one mentioned it, you really need to get to Millenium Park on Michigan Ave. to see the Gehry pavillion and other stuff there. the place is incredible.
It is also right by the Art Institute.I always reccomend the bar at the Hancock building. Free save for the price of a drink.

Presidents of the U.S.A., Local H and Sponge.
I love Local H. Scott is a friend of a friend. In person he is the most boring human on the planet. Very dull. On stage he rocks.
Keep me posted on the band. I'll def catch a show.

Hmmm... With the exception of Local H I thought those two other bands ended a long time ago?
The band The Posies played at the Wicker Park fest a few weeks ago, and I didn't think they were around anymore either.
Coincidentally we are recording at the studio where Local H just recorded their latest album.

I love it here. Moved here on a whim in Sept 2001, made the decision and moved three weeks later with a friend who was coming here anyways.
Times were tough for a bit, no job, very little freelance work, eating on $5 a week.
But it's been the best time up here, I'm glad it is home now.
Been here almost three years and there's still a ton of stuff I haven't done yet.

Id have to agree with mrdobolina. If it had a better regional landscape it would be the best city in the states. Diverse with cultural neighborhoods, supports its own music scene, very artistic resources and has an amazing social life full of oppurtunities...

I lived in Chicago for a time..it's a great city. The one thing that really stood out was how segregated it was, that and the fact that the water was basically polluted. Otherwise it's a close second to NY for me.

i had a great time last time i was in chicago..... we were at some hole-in-the-wall bar down the street from wrigley, that had $1.50 American cans.

some drunk guy had a sign on hi sback that said. "i;m drunk, take me home" ti was 3:00pm. ha.

Chicago is known as one of the most segregated cities in the US. It's pretty messed up the things people assume about you here when you simply say where you live.
