Hi there I have an interview on Monday for the job below...
GRAPHIC / WEB DESIGNER
3-5+ years industry experience
Outstanding design portfolio
Ability to interact with clients
Strong presentation skills
HTML, CSS, XHTML, Flash (script) and Dreamweaver, JavaScript (preferable), Photoshop, Illustrator and other similar tools is a requirement.Any ASP, SQL skills will work to your advantage.
I am a good designer with good flash skills and 5 years experience...
I recon they are asking too much for a designer to code, well thats what im gonna have to say to them on monday.
Do you think that the job description is realistic?

it's all about your presentation. you'll get the job, don't worry.
they always want someone that knows everything under the sun, not to mention the ability to design (which i guess is also under the sun)
confidence, even if it's bullshit. you've work in the industry long enough.

i'd tell them you just have minimal experience and do a quick crash course in asp before your interview to show them you know a few things. that might be the difference between them hiring you or someone else. just a thought.

as for sql, if they are a big company you could tell them your philosophy is to leave backend stuff for the dba's to ensure data integrity or some other line of bs.

^ listen to mitsu...knows what's up. : )

if they give you a tour of the joint, ask where the hat rack is
hopefully they'll get it

also, most dba's are notorious for being over-protective of their 'babies' and stories of any attempt of getting involved resulting in slapped wrists are bound to get a few chuckles and nods followed by handshakes and 'how soon can you start?'...

just strange to me...
Ive worked for 4 very large agencies over the last 4 years and no one has ever asked me to know anything about HOTP or HSDI or KDFJDS or whatever... Sure I have to know what the geeks can do but...
just thought it might be a unique situation. Im gonna have to tell them I canna code for toffee and see what happens. After all they have read my CV
