Cuba is really good at baseball. they always have good pitching. they play exhibition games against MLB teams before and won.

you're right though, the other teams play with each other a ton. They US body brings these guys over and have them play positions that they don't normally play like Wade at point. Just send the team that won it. The Pistons, as a team, would blow these teams out of the water.

Wade is actually good at point, he's been getting more playing time than Marbury because Brown likes him better at the point.
Iverson's game isn't really good at the international level. he's not a consistent shooter. he can create any shot he wants but he can't knock them down. he usually gets his points from driving into the lane and getting fouled but without outside shooting to spread the zone defense, iverson won't get any openings in the paint.

despite all the criticism about the players that were assembled to this USA Team, not having enough time to practice and play together as a team, and not enough experience in international play, USA has still been the favorite all along.
I'm guessing that the players finally realized that the 3-point line is closer than NBA 3-point line so it's easier to make three-pointers

Granted, USA was not very good and my friends and I thought it would be hilarious if the US lost any chance at winning a medal this year. They really didn't deserve to win.
But from an objective standpoint, how much do you think the hatred toward the US played into the officiating. I personally thought that it looked a little odd, and some calls were fairly hypocritical. What do you think?

Richard Jefferson got dunked on, but he's a nice guy, he shouldn't of even been there. He's ok but a fourth stringer on an All-Star team at best.

Goes to show you that the olypics aren't that important to anyone. Especially the basketball team.
When the best US players in the NBA don't come to play in the game, this result was highly probable.
But lets not forget, the US failed to have a baseball team in this years olympics. No one seemed to care for that either.
Oh well, it gives the poor countries something to be proud of.

well tomkat, true, that's goofy, but nobody would have beaten the Detroit Pistons if we decided to send our American players on that team. Perfect example, Argentinian Ginobli who is a back up guard for the SA Spurs was beating these guys today. He looked like an ant when playing against the Lakers. Any team with Shaw and Kobe would have blown those teams out of the water. But touche, let someone else win it, it's all fair. :)

Most American sports organizations call their championships "World" championships because US sports franchises recruit the best players from all over the world.

most of the time Mimio, except for soccer, rugby, cricket, etc., which we play but are far from dominant. however, give the US a few years in soccer/football and let's see who's holding that beloved WC Trophy. Freddy Adu 2012 ;)
