wood burn effect

trying to create an effect of text carbed into a piece of wood. I have a great wood background, i am trying to make it look as if the text is either carved into the wood or burned into it like a branding effect...
any help or tutorials??

The effect is getting there, but i think with your choice of font, its almost making it look the opposite of what u want, ...its that black edge on the font that makes it look extruding, rather than inset
(does this make any sense who knows)

i agree, but this is teh font i am trying to work it with... will play more, i think the "design with kick" looks like it is burned in though...

it's not the black shade.
you must erase that white shit on top of each letter and put it below the black to create the feel u want.
the white must be below to create the idea of different levels
