I need a good online source for display resolution demographics on US computers. I know that the site I'm working on will be deployed for the US market which I believe has a majority 1024x768 resolution. Most user statistics sites I have found show world wide stats which have 1024x768 and 800x600 almost tied.
thanks.

i asked the same question maybe a month or so ago. there were some good responses in there. maybe do a search.
from what i remember 800x600 and 1024x768 were very close. maybe the 800x600 winning. :(

i would go for 800x600, which is like 740-760x430-445.

You need to know more about your particular audience... which can make average statistics irrelevant.
Our site gets less than half the average number of people on 800x600 (14%), and over 30% on screens larger than 1024x768...

or just be lazy and wrong and follow whatever w3schools.com says.

US screens are probably bigger

if you want to be safe go for 800x600 - but 1024x768 is the market leader at the moment....

You don't abandon 800x600 if it falls under 50%. You abandon it when it's less than 5%. That could happen next year.
