Thinking of getting an iPod for my girlfriend's birthday. However she doesn't have a computer just yet. So my question is: is the iPod re-chargeable without a Mac/PC?

Yes, I was gonna load the thing up with songs. Then she can update it at my place or when she finally gets a computer.
I just noticed that the new 20gb comes without a dock, can you still charge the thing without that?

what do you mean it's no use?... just hold in in your hand as you walk down the street and act like yer listening.. that's all that matters anyway ;) otherwise why would you pay so much?
get a nomad Zen Xtra 30Gb (under $200)and a good PC(under $900).. both will cost you a lot less and be able to do more..
i digress.. sorry just suggesting a cheaper alternative, not trying to start a conflagration..

i've got a mini ipod and i never got a dock with mine. YOu should get an adaptor for charging as standard.

They certiainly do, it's either this or a pair of shoes from some outrageously expensive boutique in Bond street. At least with the iPod I can customise it a bit...
