there's 5 web/interactive designers and my manager, then there's the creative services team, which consist of a design head, 3 print/packaging designers and copywriters. oh then a video team. we're all part of the same .com, but work in different parts of the building..strange really. they didn't know what we did and vice versa until i got chatting to them and invited them over. we do shedloads of better work and imo we're the better lot. it's a deffo old skool/new skool split. shame we could be one great team.

you did the right thing by telling your boss even if you did get an apology out of her.
imagine being in the client's shoes at that moment.

Yeah, the client look very confused after she left.

as a general rule of thumb, i'd agree with her assumption that webdesigners can't design good logos. they're less familiar with the study of type and type usage (which is what largely makes up logo/identity design)
either way, that was a totally pompous thing of her to say..

i work in an inhouse mkt dept. 2 designers and a mkt director. i do print, package and web.
the other designer does print
and sets up ads for national pubs. i want to teach her about web design but she wont touch it. which sucks cause i want more cool print projects but im managing 5 companies sites.
blegh

I got my current job because the old designer didn't know web and had no desire to learn.
i don't get it. it's hand and hand to me. besides more skills = more $$$

You have to lay the line down at your workplace. Doesn't matter where it is. Just don't take shit from people, otherwise that place isn't for you.

A while back we had some Project Managers makeing changes to some of our comps, inorder to keep billable hours, so the rule today is that no Project Manager is allowed to have a copy of Photoshop on their system.

Dont really have that problem.
I kind of just do all kinds of projects.
Book covers, brochures, websites, animation, logos, and anything else under the sun.
But I guess I can see that happening though in a larger office.
That JETPLUNGER SITE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOGO EVEN SUCKS!!!!
- stewart0
i don't have words for the jetplunger website.
if a company produces something like that, they won't produce some quality stuff in the next decades.
