OK, nice job offer comes up. One hour commute. $80k. Take it or stay on my own?
- brooke0
Take it & see how it goes. Give it at least a month or two.

well, if you make more than 80K, I would say not to take it. i assume you don't.
So, will it make you happy? will you go insane in traffic? Do you have a wife and kid that would appreciate your time at home more? do you open up more opportunities by going 9-5?
These answers should tell you. You probably already know

if you neg. a 1 day at home, 4 days at office deal, take it... it will be easier making 80k in a company than as freelance... and for a short time, you can make great contacts, then go back to freelance with better clients later...

good freaking lord, 80k?
if it's hell, work it for a year, save 40k, then quit. Spend the next year doing shit but looking for a really good job.

If you don't mind me asking, where's the new gig? In town (Boston) ?....
- jevad0
why are you even asking?
- shotgunflat0
it's in boston. originally, they were saying it was going to be 65k, which is still very good right now (as we all know). but 80k, it's a different world for me. I've never made more than 50 in my life.

bbsmoothj: it's in the Kenmore area.
- jevad0
ah kenmore sq! I lived not too far from there for a year....
take it
- bbsmoothj0
My suggestion is go for it. Money aside, an hour commute is nothing. Especially if the payoff is a great environment, good people and the chance to grow. Plus, you can walk to Fenway....

Yeah me too jevad. I lived on Buswell street, which is a few blocks west and on the BU side off the Pike.

TAKE IT! Nice work Bwoi!
Working for a company is nice... someone else finds you work and pays you even when you aren't busy.

I took a job for about the same, and live in a Hotel next to work which sucks so am moving to San Fran an hour away. The commute is worth it to live somewhere nice. A pay check is always nice too, freelance you have feeedom but sometimes it can get a little sketchy.

had the same problem, but the bennies now are paying off.
- Spix0
wow..take it...I comute 1 90 minutes for alot less then that....but the drive aint to bad.
- ********0
you guys commute that far, haaaaaaa OMG!
- ********0
where do you live BTW? 80k in NYC is nothing to me, but 80K in let's say Kansas City is a ton.

i love my job but i commute for 1 hr each way. if you value your personal life, as i do, that really starts to take its toll.
the gas and wear-and-tear expenses on your car really hurt as well.
