it's so not a big deal.
just don't collect china sets.
- devaur0
you seriously worried about quakes?
- Gorbie0
yeah - you may want to brace your Elvis collector plate set.
are you moving to the north or south?
...or fresno?

you guys out there live on a bloody fault-line, Cali is going under water slow but surely.

quakes don't just suddently jump into action. they ease in and out of it.
the only time i could think of when you wouldn't have time to take cover would be when standing at the top of a tall ladder. but a quake big enough to mess with you there would certainly give some warning.
if you're driving when it happens, just pull over. it's really rather interesting and not scary.
- Gorbie0
get a dog.
they go crazy before an earthquake hits.
- MIJA0
yeah but most of these earthquakes you'd never feel. I've only run for the doorjam twice in 3 years and I really didn't need to. I've only felt about 4 since I moved hear and they were only big enough to make me say "woah"
I'd have a better chance of feeling my fiance fart in bed than feeling most of those quakes.
Now the forest fires are a little crazier.

i live only a couple miles from the "epicenter" of the big 1989 loma prieta quake. they are too sudden to be scary. the aftershocks suck.
i thnk all i lost was my favorite cereal bowl.

since then most major buildings and many homes have been earthquake retro fitted.
one of the worst parts about major earthquakes, is that the rupture gas lines and start fires.

actually that sh*t is nothing to laugh about.

LA and SF are the best prepared cities in the world for earthquakes.
They aren't so, bad. The first one is really weird tho, at least it was for me. Something I've known to be solid my entire life suddenly moved... my balance was off for like a week, sort of like a really bad ear infection.
I agree about the fires though, they are pretty nuts.
