FARMING! Design is most rewarding when done for the sake of creativity and experimentation.. Do it in your spare time, if you love it enough, you will. Being able to retire by 40 is an amazing opportunity you will live to regret if you pass up on it. Retire early, see the world.. Don't spend the majority of it working.. I'm envious. :)

Rodimus79....thats kind of where I was heading. As much as I love designing, I don't want to work forever. Can't you buy happiness? I can love to farm...if farming can get me what I want...why not right? And hell, if I choose farming, I'll only buy shit with cool packaging designs ok? That's be my support for design. So everyone, keep rockin them designs@! Maybe I can be a Sunday designer...hah.
BTW, whats up with the sheep talk peeps? We got some real farmer boys in this thread? hah.

what if in 5 years you're gonna get fired? then what?
and, most importantly, be present...

the answer should be obvious.
first of all, would you be willing to risk your happiness (possibly sanity) just to make more money? you can still 'live comfortably' as a graphic designer...
also, if graphic design is your passion, and you love doing it, what's so wrong with having to still work as a designer when you're 50 or 60? you love it, what's the big deal?

Can't get fired at the farm. I'd be running it...managing it...working it...And I can't just quit in 5 yrs. Its gonna be a decision thats gonna be set for like 20 yrs at least. As far as designing, I've been freelancing since this year and its been pretty good so far. Not super great, but im in the median and can't complain.
