im still throwing up between the rebel or that one. the rebel is so much cheaper. there's a package for the rebel that comes with a bag, extra 55-200mm telephoto lens + 256mg cf, for same price as the D70. decisions :/
- eficks0
oh and thats including the other standard 18-55 or whatever lens

It's a great cam. My girlfriend bought one with the 18-70 kit. I checked the D100 and 300D, but the D70 is superior to both.

I where also peeping at the Rebel first, then I read up on the D70 and the decission wherent hard.

Rebel with modified Russian firmware gets almost full 10D functionality, IE ISO 3200, mirror lockup, etc. I have a canon analog SLR, so for me it's Rebel or used D60 now.

I like Canon. I have an analog Canon SLR too, I also have a Digital Ixus wich I love and carry with me 24/7. But the Rebel feels a bit toyish compared to the D70. The D70 is faster and rocks more features, such as front and rear curtain sync.

technically it might be. BUt the D100 has much more functionality features for the (semi-)pro, for instance the possibility to mount an extra battery which also serves a great grip on the bottom. Small details, but quite important to me..

ISO 100 for digital rebel is an advantage
cmos vs ccd-- is this an issue?
- DutchBoy0
i did not know about the rebel, is it new?

"ISO 100 for digital rebel is an advantage"
Personally I dont think that this is a major advantage.

it's a fantastic cam. you sure won't regret it. if you wan't the perfect manual to understand it deeply, I suggest you to buy this: http://www.bythom.com/d70guide.h… ...it's really worths the buy.

I have been comparing both for awhile.
The Rebel acctually has alot of better features than the D70 but there is one thing that keeps me from going with the Rebel.
I Guess the Rebel has a really slow Write Time. After you take a picture it takesa good amount of time to get that puppy to the card.
The D70 if very fast.
I will prob go with the D70 unless they can fix that card write time because the price and power of the Rebel .. and quality of the pictures etc... is great.

Such as?

read the reviews.
They pretty much are almost the same.
But besides the write time.. the rebel has a hair better features.
esspecially if you do the hack

Some info on the Rebel hack:
http://www.bahneman.com/liem/pho…Keep in mind that the hack could possibly void your guarantee and it doesnt add better build and paint it black. ;)

"Keep in mind that the hack could possibly void your guarantee"
It's reversible, you just overwrite it with canon's official firmware. It only could be a problem if you cannot start the camera up at all and are unable to restore the firmware before returning the camera. Still, it's been reported that canon serviced Wasiaware fixed cameras without questioning warranty.
