the navigation is a little funny when you get to the portfolio section. if you can keep the popups to a minimum it would probably be best. perhaps bring the thumbnails on the portfolio page and simply pop-up from there. overall, i like it though.

one more vote to lose the blue drop shadow.
since the content is all boxed, perhaps you could keep the main background white, the content boxes white, and use a soft background color in the main area.
nice use of a serif font throughout. maybe you could use one for the nav as well?

the picture on the nursey section should have a white border around it so the type doesn't butt up against it

Maybe play with a subtle gray bg for the boxes to make it pop.
I'd agree about losing those vert blue line/shadow thingies.
Ideally, I would have liked to go directly to the portfolio, not to an info page with another port link, then popups....but....
So, overall, I like it alot. The changes are small, and if you don't do them, not a huge deal. I think your averagre joe would find this site easy to use and easy on the eyes.
I am not sure exactly what Welded was refering to on the bg of that site (it made me feel a little uneasy), but I did something similar on mine, although I couldn't see something like that on your site.
