Iv recently discovered cleartype in XP. I recommand it to everyone. I heard its better on LCD though but i can't tell much difference unless its the desktop icon text cause of the background shade.
Right click > Properties> Appearance > Effect > Standard to ClearType > Apply > OK

i find it makes things too blurry.... is this something i havta get use too or is it my CRT?

You have to let your eyes adjust to it, 2 hours tops mabe a day, but i prefer it now. as for it being your CRT that might be it aswell, i was told that it works best on LCD but i have/am using it on a CRT and its seems to be same thing except the icons on the desktop there titles are more blurred because of the shadow.

I read about ClearType in a science magazine a few months ago... If I remember correctly, it only works on flatscreens.
It somehow added pixels horizontaly, thus making the type clearer... on CRTs, it only gives a smooth anti-alias effect.
