thanks for the responses....
as per my post carty, looking for some recommendations of phones that work well...i can do all the research i want, but it wont tell me how the phone functions in reality...i think thats a valid question....

get a phone that has a sim card in it....then upgrading to a new phone and adding all your contacts isn't bitch.
I'm looking at getting the ericsson t610...seems like a nice phone and it lookas like I can get it to xfer data to my palm too...I think it's pretty cool, myself

the functionality of the T610 is great. navigates easy. works with iSync flawlessly.
only complaint is the call list drops the time of call if the call was on a previous day

I used to have a T610 and loved it. It got kicked and I thought I would have a change.
I now have one of these Nokia 6230s;
