- wendell0

I'd love to see some examples of your furniture work.
got a link?
- Neuarmy0
thanks auricom!
what do you mean by transparency? the silkscreened face? oh zach, those pieces were in a show for the month of April, but it was in lancaster :/i like that mini-site, nice and clean.
- auricom0
i use 3M super 77 spray mount. works great. the other pieces i have in my apartment are framed the same way, nothing's fallin.
the only links I have up right now of furniture stuff is a dvd rack and a coffee table:
coffee tables inspired by too much fingerboarding.
Neu, when i view your site in Safari, I can see my other windows on my screen behind it.

did you use bryce 5 to make that?

auricom:
I'm assuming you built those, as well as designed them. Are you using a bent form lamination process or something else?
Very nice look, by the way.
- auricom0
na, no 3Dapps used, all photoshop and illustrator. i found a CAD plug in for Illustator CS and it's great.
i started out with a lamination process, then a ghetto little steamer then finally found the coolest shit known to man.....bendy wood. it's plywood with a shit ton of slits. bend it, clamp it, glass it, then veneer away. well there's some sanding in there as well but still.
- Self_Induced0
Oh, snap...
You actually built that stuff?Want to see pics of the table in use.
- blaw0
yeah, i'd like to see photos of the final projects myself.
I do a good bit of woodworking myself, though in a much more traditional style.
- auricom0
I'll snag some shots, they aren't complete yet, though. I got one of the top pieces done for the table and need to do the slits for the DVD rack. just so hard to find time working 2 full-time gigs. that and getting ahold of bendy wood. have to order it from a place in cali, the woods cheap but shipping kills ya.
the earlier attempts became scraps, shit's hard to do without the right tools. i love furniture design but man....the price of tools is sick. hell i spent about $200 just in clamps.
- Neuarmy0
sweet work auricom...about my site being transparent, i wish i could take credit for that whole effect, but i believe it's a mac thing, no?
- auricom0
hmmm....now it's not like that, with as much sleep as I get, who knows. rad concept though.
- blaw0
i hear you on the cost of tools. I throw more money at that than just about anything else.
keeps me happy; keeps me sane... worth every penny.
i'm big into furniture, too, so keep me posted on your work on that front by posting here or dropping me an email. I love seeing what other folks are making.
- Neuarmy0
blaw, i was just checkin' out your site...you got some serious furniture making skills man, much respect.
- auricom0
where is the furniture work on your sile blaw?...i just realized, holy shit there is life in Johnstown. I'm from Frostburg, MD, not too far from Altoona and Johnstown.
i put too much money into tools, that's why i'm in so much debt, those tools also include my computer. I'm saving up for a battery powered Senco nail gun..which inspired this:

i just can't get over the price of grips, which for any bending work, ya need tons. the Quik-Grips are a god send though. all my stuff is at a friends place since i live in a small one bedroom apt. he's got some ghetto garage with a dirt floor, nice.
- Neuarmy0
hey auricom, heh, it's right on his splash, 3rd option down...can't miss it: brians rickety ol' furniture shoppe.
nice tee btw.
- auricom0
oh dear lord, what a day. skipped right past it and went to broadband. thanks

damn blaw, i'm so freakin jealous. your wood shop sounds the coolest. reminds me of when i worked for the stereo shop back home. my friend and i would stay late as hell to do our own work. plus get high as shit from doing mostly fiberglass work.
great work by the way, absolutely love the wine rack and the business card case. that's so rad that your wife gets into the work as well. i would say you definitely married the right girl.
