if he said half a page he knows less than you.
it means, you put the size, so you go the size you want about half a page.
go 4x6 dood

Wow.. so there is a lot half page ads huh?
Its for a flyer, I think its 8.5 x 5.5..now another question they want to do also a spot UV coating, how do I separate that for the printer? is it just that the color I want it to by applied on, needs to be in a different layer?

the uv coating the printer can do...you don't have to do anything, except get it spec'd right
- Meeklo0
when you say "get it spec'd right" what exactly do you mean? I want the file to be ready for print, I dont want them having to mess with the file and charge my client more money..

Draw a path around what you want the spot UV to be - then fill it with a solid color (like 100% Y & 100% C) and save that as a spot color named "Spot UV"
when they go to make separations it will show up as a seperate color - make sure you provide proofs and let everyone involved know what you're after.

sorry meeklo... i'd just communicate your needs to the printer as clearly as possible. if it's a full bleed uv coating, tehn they can prolly do it without you doing any prep at all...
if it's a true "spot" uv coating... what gorbie said.
