friendster for professionals?

Yeah, I am linked in. My only "link" is Ann McCormick, who I met through a university seminar class, but she is a good one. She is the lady who founded the learning company (the computer game company) many years back. She has some pretty good connections, hopefully I wil be able to use one when I need a job in 2 years.

yup dinky, friendster for professionals. but unlike friendster, professionals are using linkedin.
actually they tout that nearly 60% of their members are ceo's or presidents. so it's certainly decision makers on board with the network too.

here's what they say when you invite someone:

I'm using an online business tool called LinkedIn. You're one of the trusted people I recommend, so I wanted to invite you to join my professional network on LinkedIn. I've found it to be both useful and protective of my privacy.LinkedIn already has over 600,000 users, and they've gotten excellent reviews from Fortune, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, etc. LinkedIn is good for finding and reaching recommended employees, hiring managers and business partners. The great thing about how LinkedIn works is that people can only contact you through your friends and colleagues (like me), so you will only receive requests they consider good opportunities for you.
Basic membership in LinkedIn is free, and you can leave at any time if it's not interesting. I hope you'll try it out.

i basically use it for looking for subcontractors for our company (yes that includes designers!). or even possible clients. deals happen through networking before the rest of the world even hears about anything. so this just puts the network online for others to view.
