This morning, I finally made it in to see Reagan's casket. It took 12 hours, starting last night at 10 pm, to get through the line and up the hill to the viewing area...and it was worth it. 5 soliders silently guarding his raised casket...it didn't truly hit me until I had left.
Hope we get more presidents like him.

you're a sick puppy....these times are looking more and more like dark, dystopian science fiction..like a handmaids tale....i turn on C-Span last night and I have to watch this procession...strange rituals, a 300 page funeral plan....they should atomize the Essence du Reagan and laser blast it back to Earth through the Star Wars satellite right into the Grand Canyon

it's pretty sick that i respect the man who is largely responsible for my generation's well-being and safe upbringing. shame on me.

well-being? yea, like the matador surgeon in Naked Lunch (an example i like to use often) who brings his patient to the brink of death before saving his life......please, he bent to the Will of George H. Bush like a soulless Golem.

thanks for substantiating.
look, you might not be alive if he hadn't come to a detent with Gorbachev.
if you're going to ridicule him, that's fine with me. just prepare to be observed as an asshole.

classic, noam always puts it back in perspective:
AMY GOODMAN: Noam Chomsky, can you talk about this, the people that are now running the administration are some of the very people who ran the Reagan administration more than 20 years ago?
NOAM CHOMSKY: That's quite true. The Reagan administration is either the same people or their immediate mentors for the most part. I think one can say that the current administration is a selection of the more extremist and arrogant and violent and dangerous elements of the Reagan administration

Little known fact about The Gipper is that he can actually store about 800 Jelly beans in his jowels and then fire them in a single bead attack. It's witchcraft.

" look, you might not be alive if he hadn't come to a detent with Gorbachev."
bela merda!
Gorbatchev is the main architect of the soviet union downfall. None else. Pretty words near the Brandenburg gates didn't meant shit to the Comite. Only from within you could manage such thing. And that takes supreme courage.
There's no compairing between the two. Gorbatchev is a pragmatic politician, knows the extents and the risks of its actions. Raygun is the guy that says that "evertything is gonna be alright".
Good riddance.

E-wo, just out of curiousity, what is your age?

well, Afghanistan didn't help Soviets very much either....
in addition here' s some blood curdling quotes:
"How blessed the whole world is that he held office for as long as he did," Navy Ensign Laurie Zimmet, 40, of Los Angeles, said early Tuesday. "As far as I'm concerned, he's the greatest president of the 20th century."
Patricia Roccaforte said Reagan had made her feel safe.
"I was praying the whole time he was alive we would live up to all he thought we could do," said Roccaforte, 61, of Tustin. "He was so optimistic about us. He's in the hands of God now -- as he always has been."
A man in cowboy boots and jeans held his hat over his heart.
"On my way out, I saluted him -- both of us did," said Don Procter, 83, a former Marine who came from Altadena with his wife, Lorraine.
Though brief, the time in the library was enough for Scotia Alves, 51, of Camarillo, who said she and her husband started a car stereo company in their garage at the beginning of Reagan's presidency.
"Reaganomics was good for business. ... I felt gratitude to him," she said.
Charles Shelton, 38, a Los Angeles lawyer, was struck by the range of people.
"It's a testament, how broad his appeal was," said Shelton, who voted for Green Party candidate Ralph Nader in 2000 and plans to vote for Democrat John Kerry but called himself a "Reagan Republican."
"He's a different type of Republican ...," Shelton said. "He was tough, yet graceful."
Salvador Ayala, 74, came from Simi Valley with three other veterans.
"He won the Cold War without firing a shot. He was the greatest president that we ever had, and I'm a Democrat," said Ayala, who served in the Korean War.

pretty pathetic to take pot shots at a dead guy who did so much.
he was either the best president we've ever had, or the best actor playing the best president.
- Mimio0
He wasn't the best president this country has ever had. This country is suffering a strange delusion right now.
