i agree completely most of the stuff we're subjected to via MTV etc is pish, but there are other ways of getting good tunage. I wouldn't say what he has to say is very funny or insightful though...

It's not something that'll be welded into my cd player, but it's something i'll stick on every now and again for sure. You definately have to be in the right mood to listen to it.

there are these cashmere sweater and tortoise shell glasses wearing media types that write reviews for the fucking Guardian who call Skinner a modern 'poet' and a 'voice of the youth', claim he's like some fucking prophet or something, and they do this because they are so out of touch from 'the streets' that they actually think that by listening to and claiming to enjoy this shite brings them closer to 'the streets'.
Poet my arse, I could pen a 'streets' tune in not a lot of time and so could you. Shit is weak.

If I could do what he was doing, and I thought people would listen, I think I would.
Burberry caps off to the ned.

go and pen one then rasko instead of bitching about someone elses talent.
Didn't see you play at Glastonbury last year, then again glastonbury is to full of people trying to jump on to the glastonbury band wagon. you wouldn't be seen dead there would you.

"glastonbury is to full of people trying to jump on to the glastonbury band wagon"

all i'm saying is just because someone isn't living in a bedsit in hackney deosn't mean thay can't appreciate different types of music.
- blackspade0
look at all the twats preaching "REAL music" "this is what you should listen to"
i respect the streets, ..first album more so than this one
Personally prefer the 'Eski-Beats' of Wiley (uk)
"what ya call it garage? i made it in the studio and not in a garage, i dun care about garage"
- silencer0
I don't get your point. but i do agree that everyone should be able to listen to what they want.
i still think 'The STREETS' are pish tho ;0)

hahah whatever, I'm not telling anyone what to listen to, I couldn't care less.. I'm just saying that I think its wank and over-rated by fools who think this is 'poetic'.. guy sounds pretty illiterate really, and sorry but no I wont be playing Glastonbury.. daft eh?!

don't really care for the group- although like a few songs off both records-
rasko comments prove they are working and have a force-
Any band, artist, designer, whatever that people feel so much angst against means that those bands, artists, whatever are getting the job done...If they are going to call Jim Morrison a fucking poet- and 50 cents a revolution- then yes- Skinner is a poet-
He is witty and puts effort into his work- more effort then all your grunts and moans will ever be...
Again don't really care for the group but nice effort.
- rasko40
so because I think they are shit they are 'getting the job done'?!
how strange!
- nessdog0
yup puter... your last comment made no sense.

I haven't heard the album, and have no intention of buying it, but i like the video for, 'fit and you know it'
something that slags them off

They can't be shit if people like them. The music obviously means a lot to quite a few people.
They're tryng something that's new, so i don't think it doesn't really have an existing cultural reference point. So i'd argue it's difficult to compare the music with other artists.
- del_razor0
my interpretation..
anyone heard of Wesley Willis?
he's a bum they picked up off the streets and gave him a record deal.. i like his stuff.. but it's because he makes fun of himself and doesn't care... the difference is.. the streets 'act' as though they are pure and reasonable.. when really they should be laughing at themselves and making fun of the crap they are bankin on..
