this is sad if u think about it..
all of u who think that image was funny are sick (as in a bad way)
God bless middle east.

What's the point with that poster if only like 50% of the people understand it, and those 50% are probably the ones who allready are against the war...
And where does the iPod belong to all this? Yah, it's a joke, but I don't think the war and torture going on over there is something to joke about.
No, what's good propaganda against the war is the text Faithless' Mass Destruction. The song totally rocks!

It is more to do with that ad being an iconic image of the pasy year or so, and can't beleive half of you don't even recognise the image... it is a nice sunny day get out and read a newspaper...
and as for about not liking your iPod... is this one of those band things? 'I used to like them, but not other people like them too, so I couldn't possibly be a fan anymore' Zz.

no, i bought it to play mp3s, not as a social status symbol, which unfortunatly it has become. But in a way, i am embarrassed to be associate with alot of the blindly over-devoted fans that this product has created. Its a fucken mp3 player. zzzz

well. it's heavy shit. i don't know if i should say courageously or shite.
political note (no to read if u don't want)
US CITIZENS: pls. can u tell your goverment that enough asses are kicked? it seems like they don't care what we overseas say. thanks!
- mrdobolina0
I'll tell them right away pascii.
- pr20
the only asses being kicked are those of the low rank soldiers (for the most parts)...

we're killing their wives and children and you're okay with it, but the first time we fuck with 'em a little you people get all upset.
WAR IS EVIL.

It would appear from some of the reactions here that more pieces like this are needed - if only to get some of you to think about your position in all this shit.
It is a fantastic image and idea and is not 'wrong'. It may not be right either, of course!

fantastic! i love it.

the sad thing is that most of the US people will think its some kinda ipod with ground support

I saw this a couple of days ago, and i thought it was fuckin cool. Juxtaposition of media saturated imagery (how the hell can u not know what it's about??). Funny, witty, AND it makes a point.
[to all u haterz - do u even know who Andy Warhol is??]
- strabley0
finally people who will agree that it was to make a point, not just something to make fun of people. its anti prisoner abuse, what we did was fucking wrong.

"the sad thing is that most of the US people will think its some kinda ipod with ground support"
Exactly! People might not even recognise it in the street.
Why not just take one of the torture photos, enlarge it and put it on a wall? Would'nt that be even more effective?

the fact that alot of people on a design forum didnt get it;s message, say alot about how weak it is
- whatever0
more please, this is how graphic designers can change the world.
the power of image is what is finally calling into account our stance of being on the right side. The secrecy around the coffins, the embedded media, all of the savvy media politicking that has been done by the Bush administration is very quickly unraveling through the powerful images that show the sadism of war and domination.
Graphic designers fire up Illustrator and make an image that is powerful. No matter what your political stance it will amplify the communication that needs to happen around such a significant social turmoil.

the fact that a lot of people didn't get the message might also reference how apolitical and unaware many designers are of current events.
:)
There could be a more effective way of messaging the concept, so why don't you go to it?
The more its out there the better the conversation.
