IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR ASS " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A
SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES
ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A
DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS
ENOUGH"

That calculation is shit.
- brooke0
This is an impossible request.
- Soler0
yeah- becuase the next day would be th ehighest demand for oil of all time
- dehryll0
isn't this the equivalent of NT-Spam?
- JagerMan0
Who really cares about the exact calculation, and yes, i will admit it's a bit of an excessive request, but would it really hurt anyone to try and not buy gas on that day. Boycotts HAVE been effective in our countries history in the past
- Mimio0
Oil is bought and sold months in advance of producing fuel. Pricing fluxuations at the pump reflect higher negotiating foundations for future oil. You can't even hiccup the system.
- JagerMan0
how so, Dehryll?
- Mimio0
Buy a electric car.

just rough #s to prove that your stats are crap:
I just saw the head of ExxonMobil on Charlie Rose. He said they sell 2-3 hundred million barrels of oil a day, and they have less than 20% market share. So that means BILLIONS of barrels a day.
Multiply that by around 30 bucks a barrel a day- that would be around 30 billion the companies would lose, not 4.6 billion. So, being as they make more money than anyone, I think they can handle that shit bro.

Mimio, I'm not trying to say this sort of thing is the solution to our problems of gas prices. But, for example, if there is a problem with pollution, and I was afraid of the air that I breath being polluted, and so I stop using my car, or go buy an electric, and everyone else is still polluting, my air is still gonna keep getting dirtier. Sometimes, the idividual doesn't have much power to do things, but the community working together can make a change.

I agree. Your hearts in the right place. Just find another way to fuck them over.

how much is gas per litre where you live?
$0.88 in Calgary
- JagerMan0
thanks, I'll keep plugging away
- JagerMan0
It's about $1.89 right now
- Mimio0
Regular unleaded is $1.94-$2.09 in Detroit...and we LIVE off gas.
- JagerMan0
Soler, didn't you just prove that they'd be losing MORE $ then I had reported? And i might add, I didn't intially post this because I thought the whole country would take part, it was more or less the idea I liked, I'm sorry if the idea has flaws, but it's worth discussing.

In Denver:
1.99 /85
2.09 /87
2.19 /91
- tymeframe0
doesn't that mean we'd just have to buy more gas the day before just to get through the gassless day?
cool idea though. It'd be funny to see all the station attendants just sitting around wondering what the hell is going on.

Nice idea, don't think it would happen. But I think something should be done, have no suggestions for ya.
