i've seen some of the shit at rotten.com but somehow this is different. most on rotten are suicides or stupidity (not all i know) but to me this crosses the boundry of human nature...even for the killers!

Yeah, possibly a stretch too far with the Child Pornography angle.
I think the basis of this thread started with someone wanting to watch it, do we really have to get into a debate on the rights and wrongs with the action, where we can have a perfectly healthy debate on how wrong it is to actually watch it!
Mind you, lilbabyarm could have been asking to purely crit the design content of the website itself!!

is it worse than the Apache on a killing spree?
if i should choose between the two videos i´ll rather watch headchopping..

don't focus on the child pornography but the compulsions people have towards things like this. Think about it a different way.........em, it could even be as tame as the reasons why people go on rollercoasters to scare the shit out of themselves. What are they trying to achieve etc etc.?

Agreed, human nature has reached a new low with this. But it isnt anything new, wasnt an execution televised in the states (I'm not USA bashing) not so long ago? But i guess thats ok cause it was carried out but 'officials'.

Sorry lowimpact, I thought you were pointing fingers. My bad.

lowimpact - I honestly dont think most people are decontextualising it. What ive read on here, i think most of us are intelligent people and understand what it's about. But i think it's more of a tragedy the way it's being politicised. There's the right who want us to see how barbaric the "enemy" is and show us how important the US mission is. And i suppose there are many who say that the United States went to war for people like him - so American businessmen can make money out of Iraqs tragedy - so this barbaric tragedy was necessary to warn people off.
Sometimes i think it is better to decontextualise things. Im in "Gandhi" mode at the moment. We all know people are dying out there. We know that foreign businessmen are targets and are being kidnapped and slaughtered. We're aware of what a mess it is. They cud have shot the guy. One bullet to the head. Quick and painless. But i'll never get my hand around what they did to him. No matter how badly America's fucked up that region.
It's so depressing the things people are willing to do for ideals :'(

I hear ya Kuz - Im tackling the decontexualising thing myself - I sometimes feel people respond to a method more than a result. Im trying to keep everything on a level playing field. but Is killing 10, 000 innocent civilians somehow less shocking and barbaric because of the methods employed? (I'm not pointing fingers just thinking in type)
I know some middle eastern states have used beheading as a form of capital punishment - would those AQ guys have been looked upon more favourably if they killed the guy with a lethal injection ?
again I'm just spinning off on this one - not pointing, blaming etc.

look at these acts as a whole identifying a deeper rooted problem within humanity...
weather its iraqis or US soldiers, there is a sickness, a disease of the heart that blurs out sanity and reason, leading us to do the most horrific things..im not a pacifist...there are situations when a physical confrontation is required...
but what we can never forget is that there are rules of engagement..
i think the US army needs to re-school its soldiers, to take out the hate, and make them thinking idividuals..not just robots who see a target instead of a human beingand the iraqi's need to be told what being muslim means.
A beautiful example is one of the Prophet Mohammed's commanders, Ali, who was in battle and had an opponent pinned to the ground who spat up at him....he gets up and lets the man go, who asks why he did that.
when i was going to kill you, i was in battle for God..but when you spat at me, i was raged..and im not here to kill for my rage.in islam......rage is one of you greatest enemies.

maybe i am curious but i know i can't bring myself to watch it
i cringe at thinknig about what it would have been for that man, for the family etc so would rather stay curious but disgusted with myself for even being curious
- rasko40
you are disgusted by your own humanity?
- stabilitee0

...had to turn down the volume before the screaming came on...even then I couldn't look at it directly...had to look to the top part of my screen and watch it with my "peripheral vision". Strange, but I couldn't help myself. Don't feel any better now...
