a line has to be drawn somewhere. if it's a movie it's not as bad but this is REAL shit...nobody should WANT to see it

wanting to see it is very different to wanting it to happen. no one here wanted it to happen, its disgusting. but it is out there, on video, and for some strange reason i want to see it. But if I cant see it so be it, im not going to run out and try and buy it.
It's a product of war. And not to start a huge argument, but how is it all of you wanted to see the pictures of the US soilder being draged throught the streets of bagdad? And how is it you were all glued to your seats watching the war , "live and uncut", bombs dropping on a city you have never been to. So dont talk to me as if i am some freak of natureWe are products of society.

i defenitely don't want to see it. i almost puked when i watched that tjetsen (?) rebel cutting throat movie. and i only saw about 2 seconds of it before i immediately quit it. couldn't stand seeing those burned corpses being beat and dragged over the streets as well.
on another note, people here do seem to yell from an ivory tower about how un-pc / bad it is if someone wants to see it (even without knowing the exact motivation why) while people have no trouble with the whole deathwish series, rotten dot com etc. which to me is the same thing. then again now i'm generalizing. could be very well wrong.
i totally agree with unsexypixel though. no one seemed to have a problem with the scenes unsexypixel described.

it may be closely linked to that compulsion that drives some people to look at child pornography and images of rape. I'll have a think about it and come back with a theory. I may even call it the 'sick fuck theory'.

I personally think that there is a MASSIVE difference between watching the allies drop bombs and wage war and an innocent american having his head chopped off. And lets face it, I imagine it would take a skilled man with a very sharp knife to do it in one go, so god knows how gruesome it would have looked!
But as a subscriber to Bizarre magazine, I really have no line of argument!
- lowimpakt0
seriously though there is a big difference between expressing concern for outcomes of events (such as watching newsstories about the war as it happens) and actively seeking out a gruesome event when you know the result etc. and when actualling seeing it has little bearing on the wider issue of what is going on. As I said, this guys death should not be made into a spectacle.......

lowimpact - thats the point. People DONT want to look at child rape - yet they are all facinated by watching human life being snuffed out. It seems to me sexuality is more sacred than life. Yesterday morning my mother told me they showed the whole thing on a Pakistani cable channel. Yet when they had the Iraqi prisoners, they're cocks were blurred out.
I hold nothing against people who want to see the video. I saw it. But i really dont think we shud be posting links of it on this forum. This might sound extremely bourgeois - but we all have a duty to uphold the sanctity of human life. Discussing it is fine - but talking about how sick it was, daring each other to watch it, turning it into a spectacle - that just emphasises the worst in us. So please people, show some respect. There are places to indulge ur sick fantasies. It is not here.

maybe you should watch it and think very carefully about the situation and what has led us here, consider all angles, consider the brutality of both sides. Maybe you should cry and not shout "woah dude, thats gonna hurt in the morning son!"
And then decide which way you vote.
Either way you cant deny human curiosity be it deemed good or bad, at the end of the day 'curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back'. Not sure that this would leave you with much satisfaction though.

Child pornography? Ya, way to generalise there mate. do CNN show that now too, after all the vidoe is still on CNN for all to see. Must be alot of 'sick fucks' on the planet then

Kuz; I wasn't being fully serious about the child porn thing but you have to admit there is something about compulsions towards images that are reprehensible - whole other thread.
I also have an issue with how people are so quick to decontextualise things and place symbolism on certain acts regardless of their true implications within the wider issue. It is a tool of terrorism that people seem to play into. I don't whether it's 'human nature' or something that's part of 'western' culture that the terrorists have tapped into. I'm being too vague and stupid here, I better quit and think about it......
