Have any of you ever completed a site and then later realized that there was a much better way to execute some aspect of it, so you went back and fixed it? Say it was a Flash site and you used what you thought was the best code for some feature, but then weeks later you created or discovered a much better, more efficient way to do it, so you went back and changed it free of charge?
Does pride ever get the better of you like it does me?
I do this often.

You should do more planning initially. It'll obviously save you a lot of time in the long run.

What I have done quite often is realised after doing routine maintenance for a site is that I have made it in a friggin clumsy awkward way that makes it difficult to do.
Or just jerry-rigged the code and not documented it such that it makes very little sense whenI come to making any changes.

Brooke...
It's not so much a lack of planning because I plan all of my sites to the best of my ability at that time. That's the thing - we all learn more and more the more work we do.
Sometimes when I dig into a client site I completed some time ago, I'll notice some bit of code that I now know how to execute more efficiently, so I usually just re-write it.

I concur auto, as long as you're not losing hours of billable time over the change i think it's well worth the change.

I think so, too. Besides, it's keeping your client happy.

This is a pretty natural and comment thing - discovering a better way, more efficient way, etc. (especially in test phase). Best thing to do is do smart coding to start with that is easily changeable... use include files for your AS, use functions as much as you can - reuseable MCs, etc. Same goes with HTML (use CSS as much as you can).
There's also nothing wrong with being a perfectionist :)
