approximately line 34 - valign=center should be top .....rest of table is perfect...
border=1 with the way he set up the table border is giving 3 extra spaces on the top ....
he doesnt need to start over.... replace the valign center and get rid of border...
he did a good job

and the height of the entire table was wrong... if he made the height correct he wouldnt have even needed valigns cause it would have been sized correctly

haha sorry guys. yes i know i could of sliced it evenly an dmade it easie ron myself. but im not tryign to do that. i already know how to do that. i just sliced it up in weird ways and tried to see if i could code it into a table. and yes i could of just left it as one image but again i did this on purpose to practice table coding. this is not for anything. purely for practice. i believe my overall code is correct. just need to edit some stuff which im still trying to figure out. again i did it this way on purpose to practice. this is how i learn. ia ppreciate all the help tho.
liquid, i changed the valign middle to top and still no good. maybe your right bout setting the table height but i always heard it was a bad form to set table heights. is this true?
also changing the border to 0 doesnt help. i thelps a little. but i left it at 1 so that you guys could see how the rows and columns were laid out.

flippin heck has no-one ACTUALLY helped this dude... honestly!
Right. Think of your table as a grid (muller brockmann style). Now even if you go over the grid lines into another cell the grid lines remain in place. So this is what is causing your whitespace problem. Basically the cells are pushing eachother apart.
Let's take the top left cell if you look at it in relation to the bottom left three cells you can see that two cells make up the width of the top left one. I imagine you have the top left one to something like 'colspan="2"'. But this won't strictly work because the border in the table measures like 2 pixels... which causes a wee gap in the top cell. Think about it like this:
top left = border|image|border
bottom left = border|image|border|image|borderNow apply that logic over the entire table and... BINGO you have gaps.
make sense?
no?
If you want a hand with something email me and I'd be happy to help off list cause typing in this teeny box looks nice but is hard work!

p.s. that isn't the only issue but it's one of them. Best thing to do rather than cut up slices in PhotoShop is build a page with content and images and design for that. What with broadband and css you don't often have to hack up huge images anymore... Ahh the olden days.

I changed the valign to top and I changed the border for the whole table not to zero but to none... just take out that parameter completely.....
the thing worked fine..... if you have dreamweaver... try it in there....
