So the Secret Service was just visiting to help the 16 year old art student express his views? By the time most Americans wake up all their rights will be already gone.

That wasn't vague. That was blunt, son.

there ARE boundaries, that's why you aren't supposed to joke around about killing the president, the secret service takes that extremely serious.
- sauerbraten0
i know geith, i was making a blanket statement about all statements, vague or not comparing USA, Bush or his Administration to Nazi Germany.

to each their own Sauer. that's the great thing about Democracy. tt's just a shame when it gets abused, which seems to coincide with the inaguration of right-wing administrations.
oops, sorry, political overshare.

Despite the ;) I was being serious... The way to avoid things like Columbine is putting an end to the guns culture (and most important, putting and end to the winners/losers capitalist dicotomy), not letting the secret services kick american citizens' asses. Or maybe I'm wrong... ;) I'm sure imp would like very much the FBI nosing around his privacy.

as much as we love our constitution, it was written over 200 years ago and the world has changed so much it doesnt really reflect the times..so if I have to give up some of my privacy to help protect my family, I am all for it

What a pussy you are imp. You really think the founders of America really thought it was alright to give up their freedom for security? We fought against the greatest nation on Earth at the time to get freedom. Now you want to piss it away because you're afraid of some kids drawing pictures or hijackers on your plane with box cutters.

"Secret Service agents questioned a high school student about anti-war drawings he did for an art class, one of which depicted President Bush's head on a stick."
I think we should ban sticks,
a tool of terrorism™

imp, I apoplogize somewhat for calling you a pussy (just saw the Spain thread, werd) but eroding the basis of this (USA) country just to quelm the fears of some doesn't sit right with me.

Imp calls an entire country cowards for leaving a war the do not belong in, yet he is afraid of a 15 year old with a pencil. hmmm

Some of you Nters are RETARDS!
The school teacher called the SS about a threat to the president. It is the SS's job to follow up, thats what they do, no matter who the president is.
The idiot school teacher overeacted . . . you paranoid mofos need to stop bitching about the government so much, you sound like a bunch of elderly people

No.
It was Principal Skinner!
"
The 15-year-old boy's art teacher at Prosser High School turned the drawings over to school administrators, who notified police, who called the Secret Service."Everybody relax now.

Why couldn't that teacher sit down and discuss the picture? Find out the motivation (which seems pretty clear, and it's not that he was going to go out and kill Mr.Bush) behind it, it'd be an informed discussion, about art, and they'd all learn something too.
Or am I being totally silly in still having a little faith in people?
