I used to teach photography to groups of kids in youth centres. I just showed them loads of slides of fashionable photographers (all the 'new colour' lot, billingham etc.) then gave them disposable cameras with slide film to shoot what they wanted. The next session I had their pictures processed and blown up huge on a white wall - some of them were superb, photos of 8 year olds smoking bongs, and one kid who just shot his family at breakfast and watching tv...had an amazing eye, raw talent.
