Hey. I need to get an internet connection for the apt. Is DSL or Cable a better deal. I don't have a phone or TV.

Have had, so far, much better luck with cable (RR) than with DSL (VZN) - the service are not indignant crypto-fascist slobs, and the line reestablishes connections when dropped within about 1/2 second... as opposed to the nasty fuckhassle that PPPoE was for my router...

Cable modem. With DSL you have to get a phone line, plus DSL. With Cable Modem I'm not sure if you have to get cable. Even if you do, the cheapest cable is only like 17 a month whereas the cheapest phone line is 25+ a month. Cable is a lot, A LOT faster.

Id recommend cable also, I am not in NYC, but I know that out here, when you get DSL they charge you install fees and shit. cable is free install. call your cable company first.

No more pirating my neighbor's WIFI.

i would be careful if i were you - major isp's now record your internet activities. i had rcn and roadrunner. both are decent. i just dont trust time warner and thier new policies.

we had roadrunner when we were living in manhattan. i much prefer cable because basic dsl has shitty upstream and i have no need for a land line.
