yeah we just got in an argument about the whole thing.
The schedule thing, although lame, sounds like the best way to make it work. We live together so i guess in her eyes we're together every night, but I'M not with her. It's nuts.

i'm similar to mick, a bit of notice for my wife to make her own plans and a bit of a treat when the cheque comes in, to say thanks.

find a new girlfriend ;)

ok, ok...so just explain to her that you want her to be a part of your future, and you want that future to be the best it possibly can be, and investing in your work now will make that happen.
chicks dig that. i should know ;)

Honestly, my experience is they get it or they don't. :\

That's a great question. My girlfriend is a kindergarten teacher... so her schedule is more routine than that of the military, yet I am all over the board depending on projects and deadlines. However, I can say that after two years she is learning the value of compromise... since we get to take 2 or 3 multi-week vacations a year as well as weekends away almost once a month. All I can offer you is the best of luck man.

My significant other is an illustrator, too, and a damn good one at that. I don't have to worry about impatience. We're in the same mode.

My (live-in) girlfriend never lets me work on freelance work in the evening either. She always finds ways to keep me busy and it drives me totally crazy. Similarly, she loves spending money, which is why I'm trying to freelance in the first place.
So...I bought her a gym membership (US$30/month) and suddenly my busy evenings have been quiet.

Try this.
I like my work more than I like you, now fuck off!

My girlfriend of 3 years has been bitching a bit about my freelance work too. I see her once a week and she lives 15 minutes from me.....I see her point, but its got to slow down sometime right?? Right?!?!?

Nice move, Recycle. I'll remember that if I can ever get some freelance work.
My girl of three months is very patient so far though.

i have the same problem, it's tough. I just explain i'm lucky to even have the work, i'm building a name, and at least i can work from home so we can still get busy if we want when i take a break!
- tymeframe0
yeah......i think that's the way she's feeling.
I'm just looking for a happy medium to dilute the neediness.

just be super-nice when you know you have to put some time in.. ladies have a hard time being mad when you bring home flowers, a home made card and a big kiss you know?

Well, I only date psychos, and if you don't know already, it's impossible to please psychos.
