balb0a - nice talking to you about this - it sounds as though we are pretty much on the same wavelength and it's good to hear an insider's perspective on things - especially concerning UO's direction...I can see how it would be hard to control as more often than not it's the public and customer that makes the brand.
There are a few big name brands that I will never buy - Nike is one of them, but I'm not as totally anti-brand as I came off there.
The most important thing to me is how it feels and how it fits...for example...it pains me to do it...but GAP jeans really are the only jeans I have ever found that fit me the way I want them to fit.
I also used to wear a lot of A&F, but they too have gone sooooo downhill over the past 2 years, to the point that I can't even step into their store anymore without feeling sick.
I still wear a lot of skate/show stuff. I guess that's my look. I don't need to spend $40 on a leather belt to feel good about myself!

the only thing i've ever bought from them was a pair of triple5 pants a while back. now they officially, completely, undoubtedly suck ass.

I don't know if anyone has seen it at all - but the new urban outfitters catalogue is pretty sick - in a bad way.
I have to wonder if they got their models from the teenage anorexic and bulemic camps.
Honestly I am not surprised there are so many eating disorders in teenagers when irresponsible companies like this use sickly thin looking models to try and sell their clothes.

Word. Some fashion designers and retailers deserve to be beaten 'til their brains come out through their ears. Or maybe they just should be hanged. No mercy with those who dictate young people how to look, how to dress, how to be...

They're not dictating anything, they're not the government, it's a fucking store, if you don't like it don't go there.

Yup. I love to release my dogs with bees in their mouths so when they bark they shoot bees at those fashionable suckers.

i have a question for mr. balb0a if he's still around. are these in-house designer trend-teams coming up with the neo-travel/tourist/thrift t-shirts?
there's a shirt in the stores now that totally ganked my idea. i've had the shirts out for some time now and it's "interesting" that they're using the same concept, but i'm sure it's just coincidence.
thanks!
