balb0a - nice talking to you about this - it sounds as though we are pretty much on the same wavelength and it's good to hear an insider's perspective on things - especially concerning UO's direction...I can see how it would be hard to control as more often than not it's the public and customer that makes the brand.
There are a few big name brands that I will never buy - Nike is one of them, but I'm not as totally anti-brand as I came off there.
The most important thing to me is how it feels and how it fits...for example...it pains me to do it...but GAP jeans really are the only jeans I have ever found that fit me the way I want them to fit.
I also used to wear a lot of A&F, but they too have gone sooooo downhill over the past 2 years, to the point that I can't even step into their store anymore without feeling sick.
I still wear a lot of skate/show stuff. I guess that's my look. I don't need to spend $40 on a leather belt to feel good about myself!
