Apart from the illness, smell, filth, social rejection and financial cost, is it seriously better not to smoke?

I have given up for 3 months, and want a cigarette about once and hour.
I don't know where I stand on this issue

I've been 'on the wagon' for 3 weeks, the first week was easy - no problem from 20 a day to zero, but now I just can't be arsed anymore - and all my design work is dull. I don't want to be needing a smoke in 3 months time...

financially and health wise - yip!
It took me years to finally give up smoking. I feel sick now it I try and smoke!

Its a lovely spring day, one of the first truly warm fridays of the year, there's a buzz in the air and people are dressing summery. You've had a hard week at work but now its friday and there's a few of your good mates hooking up around the corner for a good slaying in this little beer garden you know, not too busy, just the right crowd. So you stroll and along and hit the bar, they're serving Becks and though your normally a Stella man there's something about a pint of cold hopsy Becks that seems to fit the day, you get outside in the sun and savour that first long sip "AAAAGH" on the table is a pack of your mates fags, not just any fags but Lucky Strikes, the ultimate nutty roasted flavour with just the right bite a real drinker needs in his cigarette. And a box of swan vesta, none of that disposable lighter crap here please. Now tell me you dont want to take that cigarette.

I hate smoking. I don't do it, never have.
The drummer and bass player in my band smoke, and I've become terribly adamant about them smoking around me. I sing and play guitar, and cigarrettes don't really help the singing part. Make my head all congested, throat hurt, and I wake up the next day with a headache and sore throat. Doesn't really help my singing considering the Three Tenors are my idols.

I started so I could look cool and hang with the cool kids. They smoked and were cool, they thought I was cool because I smoked, so we all hung out together and were all cool. Now I'm too old to be cool, but not according to coca cola or nescafe....
