I have had enough of PC dominance at work! I have been told that I should use a PC cos everyone is using it, and that nothing is compatible with a Mac. I use Microsoft Messenger to talk to many countries and I cannot even make file transfers on the network. Also it seems to get more and more people using PC to DESIGN! What is happening here? What do people think about this? I wish designers can just stay on MACS...but have I been fabricated by too much of Apple's switch campaigns and nice designs? HELP!

Ever pulled a mac apart. man, that shit looks the same as a PC. All the componants are coming from taiwan anyway. the sound cards, hard drives, DVD, RAM, pci cards, agp cards - they are all the same as PC. Feck, evem IBM manufacture the processors now! You know what bit is truly apples? The nice shiny case on the outside, and the UI on the OS. I use mac at work, pc at home. When the pc crashes, i fix it myself. when the mac crashes, I call apple. it's all the same shit.

You get what you pay for. Besides, Macs are so much prettier... isn't that all that matters?

Yes, a lot more people are using pc for design, but I would say that most of them are not professional designers that work in print or publishing. I started out on the PC when I first started, but was forced to switch to a MAC. I have NO regrets in doing so. Apple's OS is based on the Unix shell which is thee oldest most stable OS their is. That is something PC users will most likely never experience.

Im a designer working for apple. Illustrator crashes 8-9 times per day. Mac sucks. I work with my SUPER PC at home.

Haven't we had enough of this? The Mac / PC debate has been going on for about the last 16 years.
BTW, I have to work on a mac and a PC. Mac wins hands down.
*winces with anticipation of onslaught!*

Computers are like women - an ugly woman can be as good in bed as a beautiful woman, but which would you rather walk down the street with?

Mac vs. PC is old, but here's the speculative future. PCs for the moment are faster, however they are stuck in a 32 bit world and won't be out of it for sure until 2006 or the roll out of their first true 64 bit OS. IBM is uppin' the processor speed of their chip which might be out in 3 ghz 64 bit processors for mac by the end of the summer. Be sure those will probably be available in dual 3 gig. machines or the PC equivalent of 6 gig processor. Dig? And the OS can be ran from command line. So you could theoretically be in SF and login to a machine in NYC and render something out. Macs have had the crap kicked out of them for a long time, now it looks like they are becoming more of a high end workstation than a PC. Scoff if you will, time will tell.

Why do so many of you have problems with your Mac/Pc crashing? I run photoshop, illustrator, flash, safari, mail, and a multitude of other things simultaneously on a 500mhz g3 laptop and have not had my computer crash once since installing Panther two months ago. The PC I use isnt quite as stable, and I never really run any high end programs on it, but thats okay, its great for browsing the net.
