I'm american but I do sympathize with europe. I don't ally myself with everything the us does. but come on don't you think the EU is allittle out of its bound when sueing(?) or taking up charges against Microsoft for charges of a monopoly. I think they are alittle out of their league. They fine the european branch of MICROSOFT and not the so called american side... hmm... anything weird here? I didn't see a sign that said Microsoft Europe anywhere. So they fine microsoft about something about acouple of mill in EUROPE.... hmmm... could they fine the usa side too. Oh way they don't accually have a branch their I think.. My opinion is that they should stay out of american business and pay attention to their own monopolies.. such as Virgin. I don't think the EU is doing their job and they are greedy bastards and Microsoft can afford what they are paying. But am I the only one that feels this way? Monoplies are preaty common and EU is paying attention to software/hardware cloglomorate Microsoft which is basically an american business. EU Is not payed enough... or not nearly taking enough action against their own... taking advantage of america's situation. I don't know... but I think EU is wrong. But remeber... I THINK. My opionion I am just sharing.

EU suing Microsoft hurt USego did it? Less face facts. Microsoft is a transnational global corporation which operates, and has headquarters in many many countries. Not only does it have unrivalled control of US Desktops - but close to 90% of computers of the world run microsoft windows as an operating system. Monopolies are a problem in any industry. It stifles competition, it prevents innovation, it leads to inferior products and lack of a real choice - and ultimately consumers are ripped off.
Microsoft, through its OS monopoly has forced it's own products (Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player etc...) onto the consumer - not by being a better product, or by presenting the consumer with real choice - but by using its priveledged access to Windows code and its financial clout to remove competitors from the market - even if competitors offer a superior product.
Don't feel bad mr American. You gotta face it. Globalisation. These companies aren't urs. Just cos that's where they started. Stop paradin em round like a badge of honour. They exist on a supranational level. Even fuckin saddam hussein was running WIndows. Microsoft monoply hurts different ZONES in the world and if they wanna opertae in that ZONE they gotta follow the rules laid out. U gotta control this shit...The only reason EU did that to microsoft was to protect the growth and diversity of the European free market. Not to have a go at the US. So obvious Microsoft spin doctors would sell it to the US as a national issue. And Americans would react like this. If you want Microsoft to destroy competition is ur continent, fine.... Europe wants to promote competition and alternative for European consumers. That's their perogative. If you don't like it. PUll out of Europe...
Pah...

And if you did your homework you would see that Virgin spends is life battleing monopolies, ie: challenging british airway in the UK, and challenging Qantas in Australia, if it wasnt for Virgin we would still be payingo top dollar for flights. Do some research

Sexypixel: Ive been to England, Italy, Japan and Germany. some of my family is british so don't critize me cause I am some "lousy" american. OOOO... Virgin isn't one eh.. lets see cds, cellphones, appearel.... am i mising anything. Could they just be covering up their trail? I support Europe but not some lousy Union sueing the so called europe microsoft. while your at it sue the rest of it. Let me say this. My opinion.

http://www.microsoft.com/emea/de… look at the logo to left corner.
Virgin openly supports fair competition, it has knocked the prices of phone calls, cds, flights, train journeys etc etc... what has microsoft done to support fair competition.
there are pleny of european manopolies you could have picked, but you picked the worst example, not sayiong europe is free from manopolies, but you must realise the money microsoft makes from europe. Do we not have rights just because it isnt a european comapany, maybe we should sell crappy BMW's and VW's to the US and when you come crying we will tell you to sort out your own problems first.
This is a global market.

I'm not trying to angry people.. but come on can you deny the instances of monoplies in europe which the EU hasn't taken care of?
- sexypixel0
and finish the argument you started in the european union thread

What is ur problem exactly? Are u saying Microsoft do not operate an unfair monopoly and shudn't have been fined (therefore u disagree with the verdict) - or are u saying Europe has no right to legislate against a company not founded in Europe?
