well as some of you know i have been unemployed for a few months now.
I have been working on receiving unemployment benefits and today i got my determination.
“You were discharged from on 1-12-04 for Destroying Equipment and Hacking into the company system and destroying the firewall which is a violation of company policy. you were aware of the policy and received prior disciplinary action for the same or a related offense.
it is found that you were fired for a deliberate disregard of your employers intreats.”
This is the biggest lie i have ever heard. and am outraged that they would say i did anything remotely close to that.
Anyone else have a similar situation. I am soo P-Oed at this, but what can i do!

I was fired over the network failure. basically our fire wall was screwing up. on Sunday night i went in to fix it at like Midnight,
got the sites up and running.
came in monday morning, my boss asked me if i was in the firewall last night, I said yes because the sites were down. he then told me that because i was in there the sites were down all night (after i left they must have gone down again) and fired me.
mind you he knows nothing about computers or networks or firewalls.
if anything i was going above and beyond to keep the sites up in the best interest of the company. and in no way would i deliberately try to take down the system.

That sucks. You can fight it, but it will cost $$$
You can review the facts/proof and if you have enough (logs, witnesses, etc) to prove that you were in the right, you can call a lawyer, set up a meeting with your employer and present these facts. It might not also hurt for you and your owner to call up a third-party you both agree on to overlook the meeting, to act a technical guy to support the actual facts.
Maybe it won't have to go to court.

First rule of life. Never ever put in extra work for ur employers. Only do what is required and no more. Believe me, it never gets appreciated, and will come back to bite u in the ass. Like it did for u. Go get legal aid or something and talk to someone who knows about employment law.

lol sorry I meant "employer", not your owner
lol omg... like...lol

thing is, if you take legal action that isnt paying you now or anytime soon.
I would find some sort of income first, then...
sounds to me, that good old fashioned revenge is in order.
go get a gallon of gas and torch his car. it will be quite liberating.

Have you ever filed for unemployment before? You can still file even if your employer doesn't want to give it to you. Once you file with the state they send out a letter to you employer- if your employer disputes the claim- both parties meant for a minor hearing to argue the claim. A representative from the unemployment office determines if you are eligible there after.
Screw what they say- if you can prove that you knew what you were doing and can tlak your motive they will lose anyway no matter how much money they have.

Try breaking into tears at the meeting. No one likes to see a grown man cry....

Let it go, move on.
Sounds like you did a good deed and got F**ked for it, it was probaly someone else's fault and since you stepped in become a likely scapegoat.
Unfortunately it happens a lot.
Best of luck, put it behind you.
