does anyone know of a flash site or something where there are 3d objects that you can drag around? Just lookin into it for a client. Would flash or director be good for this, or is there something better for creating a simple 3d interface on the web?

Flash is fine. Depends how complex u wanna get with it. With some geometry and Triganometry shit, u can create some really complex stuff with flash and 3d

its going to be basic moving boxes and rectangles around, clicking them, setting their "properties." Nothing that exciting.

3D in Flash is only good for a non-interactiv experience [vector output from 3DStudio flash using Discreet's plasma or Swift3d plugin].
For real interactivy one should use Director. For instance, use Plasma to export 3D files from MAX, together with collision, particles, and warps [havok].
here's a nice example:

Thats fine then. You dont even need a 3d package to do the objects either - unless u want them to rotate. And if you wanna move them in 2d space anyway, then it's even less of a problem

Thats a good example, thanks for the link. It would be cool if they could zoom in on different areas like that.
Its going to be a simulation app for a data center, so it would be cool if they could zoom in on the different rooms and racks.
Thanks

Depends how complex u wanna get. There's a lot of math with proper 3d stuff.

good link Mr_J.

unfittoprint, that was one amazing example of shockwave 3d. I passed that one on to my associates.
I wonder if there would have been a way to do the form in 3D
Don't forget some 3D packages can output vector swf files. Maya is one of them. You can work with Swift 3D, but that's a very difficult interface to use.
