I have a guy here that thinks if I put absolute link paths (http://www.mydomain.com/mypage... on the links on my main navigation that it will take longer than if I were to use relative link paths (../mypage.asp) instead.
We're talking "longer" as in the amount of time it takes to go from one page to the next.
Is he correct?

Is he wearing a leather waistcoat?

right, plus if you are using stats it will fuck up all the referrers.

Which ones will f-up the stats?
The Absolute or Relative?

absolute. relative will realize it is traffic coming internally from the site.

absolute.

Even if absolute paths were faster, it would be by such a small amount that it's virtually impossible for the end-user to notice.

Thats what I'm saying, the speed gains, if any are minimal, if at all noticable.
Plus, if I use absolute, I can use include files on various pages from different paths.

either way should be the same for the stats tracking... it's still a page request, and it's still the same visit/session by the same user etc...

any way you look at it, there is no benefit of doing it with absolute URL's.

It sounds like nonsense to me.
One advantage of using relative links is that you can always have a movie with relative links loaded into another movie without changing a thing.
If you use _root, you would have to change all your links. Not fun, I've been there.
