After my Boyfriend and I watched it we had to walk through the insanely busy Chinook Mall to find shoes and let me tell you, EVERYONE looked and moved like zombies. It was freak-ay.
And when I went to the basement of our apartment to do laundry I was a tad scared too, so I guess I got my moneys worth.

So you're basically easy to scare...

I saw this movie this weekend and I thought that it was missing the message of the original. It still freaked me out though...

saw that shit. Awful.
It's funny that it takes cues from 28 days.. which took cues from the original dawn.. even the blown out colors and digitalish look of it was 28 days. Also it was a little violent. I kinda had a physical reaction to it. I'm no puss when it comes to violence and gore, especially unrealistic gore but that shit was kinda nausiating.

And Ving Rhames sucked compared to Rhodes....

the helicopter played an important role in the first Dawn, thats how they got away from the TV studio, how they saw the mall and decided to land, and how they got away after the biker gang let in the zombies!
nice cameos by Tom Savini and Ken Foree though!
btw, fulci is amazing and "Zombie 2 / Zombie / Zombie Flesh Eaters" (could this movie have any more titles?) has some of the best make up ive ever seen. also see Dario Argento

I want gore and lots of it.
I actually wrote my thesis on the Romero zombie trilogy and how they reflected society etc etc. 28 days later was really good because it was well directed and the scenes of a deserted London were incredibly freaky and unsettling but, despite the fast zombies which I liked, it took wholesale from the Romero movies.
28 days later did not come first, it rippd off several American films and some of the Italian 'Spaghetti Horrors' like Zombie Flesh Eaters (I think they had fast zombies too).
I still cant wait till it comes out but in a car crash kinda way, that horrible dont wanna look but compelled anyway feeling.
It could be pants if there's no bandits though.

(mar 20 04, 13:07)That's exactly my point. 28 Days Later was a good film despite the 'zombies' being fast or slow. Oh, and most italian zombie flicks kick american ones' asses as for gore and 'insane ambience' goes. Let's take Lucio Fulci for example. His film 'Zombie 2' (here in Spain it was called 'NY Under The Zombie Horror') scares the shit out of everyone who sees it. Truly apocalyptic and disgusting zombie film. Probably my all-time fav.

anyway -- the zombies in the original weren't sleepwalkers...

(mar 20 04, 10:46)They weren't 'runners' either...

idsgn,
there's no chopper? In the original there was a chopper in the end in which they got away from the city?
haven't seen the movie yet, but I think the effects are quite good from what I've seen.

wheaties kinda get soggy when you let them stand in milk. to be more accurate, they get soft... not good for consumtion.

i met ken foree (that main black guy from the original dawn of the dead) today, and asked for an autograph.
he laughed at me and said i had to pay for one :(
man, i wouldn't even charge for an autograph, and i'm an asshole.

I preferred The Passion of The Christ.
The comparisons to a zombie movie are frightening.
Yet, The Passion was based a tremendous book, that demonstrates how WE CAN BECOME THE LIVING-DEAD.

theres not even a helicopter!

Looks too much like one of last year's best movies, 28 Days Later.

they should have just made this its own movie and slapped a different title on it
