hi folks, and quick way to show clients what i've done for them online but still prevent stealing?
no way to dodge screen caps, but other than making right button scripts, how can i prevent them from saving the complete web?
nothing fancy like ASP pls.

why not just send them screen shots of the site with a small watermark on it or a thin white X covering the entire screen so that they can't steal your source code or yoru graphics

thanks IHeartQBN.
that's like a right-click lock, but still doesn't save you from doing a printscreen-steal.
was looking for something tha t i can't go to IE and just "Save As Complete Site" and rip it off.
thanks again. ~: )

you can't. if it's on the web you can always rip it. there are tools purely made for sucking down sites. the only thing that is too hard / quite impossible (fortunately) is to rip e.g. mysql databases. you can make it as complex as possible but still if it's manmade man can steal it. regarding images you can always make screenshots.

iheart: right click is pc only.

put it into a flash movie with an action attached to the prnt screen button hiding the image... or summat.

well although that is a quite interesting approach you still can make screenshots of it. not only do mac users have their own way of making screenshots there are also apps who do that for you. next to that there are a lot of swf crunchers who can rip everything from an protected swf file.

asit's been said, there really isn't a way to totally protect it, but just as an idea (this was to protect code rather than design)...
i once sent a site to a client who i didn't really trust. i put a no-right click script on there. i then put my site into a frameset comprising of one frame (the site itself), so when you viewed source you just got the frameset code. then on the page itself, i put a check on there to make sure that it was part of my frameset. if it wasn't, it redirected them to my frameset. as a result, there was no way of viewing source on my site.
of course they could create a link themseleves to the page, then 'save target as...', but i figured they were actually quite stupid when it came to the net (like most clients).
just an idea.

hey, just a crazy idea -
you could maybe make a flash movie in which they have to hold down a certain key to see the image, say the "spacebar." perhaps while the spacebar is held down, it would prevent them from doing a key command to capture the screen, or prevent them from going to another app while your image is being displayed. ??? sounds easy enough.

show it on a laptop and make 'em stand behind a line on the floor...

just take your own screencaps, resize them to about 70% and set the picture quality (for jpeg only) to about 6 or 7... even if they do a screencap, it'll be too fuzzy to use.
