  hey got a query here..... when you click on a button it loads an external .swf . can that button that loads the .swf also control which frame the newly loaded .swf starts on?

  yes of course, but make sure you have loaded the swf completely before triggerring the gotoAndPlay method!!

  for example it won't just work like this.loadmovie("bla.swf") and this.gotoAndPlay(123)
  put an flag whether it has loaded completely or not and then fire the gotoAndPlay method.

  Or you can put the goTo action on the first frame of the loaded swf and pas him a vriable with the frame he has to go.
