how do companies/studios buy fonts? are there some nice font collections that people go buy and feel happy... or does one need to go and hunt for fonts and buy them one by one? any help/links will be appreciated.
thanks.

Well, most fonts that you find free online are generally not the best. Most require at least a whole lot of "hand" kerning. So, if you are going to set a book or a magazine I would recommend using a well-crafted font like those from: Adobe, Emigre, Underware, or even some of the fonts over at T26 and YouWorkForThem.

any recommendation for nice/decent font collections? i checked out the adobe font folio and thats for about $4,999, ouch! but it does have about 2000 fonts. so i guess i am looking for something not so huge.
thanks!
