thanks for the compliment.
I am paying for a die, it can run 100-200 dollars for the creation of it (depending on complexity).
I am only using my email and www because my phone number will be changing a few times this year.. but i am not sure i would put your address on it.im with you on not using the monkey, but it is your name and im not sure your visual knocks home that name. its a tough choice to make, but if you are taking chances with your personal branding then clients may wonder what you will do with thieirs.
sorry to blab..::rf

that's one of the most interesting bcards i've seen in a loooong time redfridge.
very cool!

it is a cool card. that card begs to be a fridge magnet!

try harder. it doesn't impress me. sorry. :)

UKers don't seem to mince words much

it's a critique, i'm only being honest. that's fair isn't it paulrand?

i like the strong lines of the white out but sorry mate i'm not feeling the photo. agree with earlier comments that it looks too wet.
to be honest i'm not too excited by any of the typography but then i quite like the farrow holding page... not as a complete business card but just the modernist grid layout.
You have something nice and minimal going on with your site, have you considered going down that route? at least that way you'll be building a consistent identity across all media?
maybe it's just a different aesthetic in the uk. feel free to ignore - you know what represents you best!

aw, fuck it, i've been toying around with some.. slate me back monkey!

i'm such a sucker for spot of uv varnish. that's lovely nick. the wavy one seems overdone tho.
but back to monkeyshine, maybe i've been looking at it the wrong way - your card would appeal to small business owners because it seems approachable and friendly. It might not appeal to art directors but if you aren't looking to freelance for agencies then that's irrelevant.

I like your card, smellvetica. I really like the hot pink one, not because I'm a chick but because it's more of a statement...a bit unexpected.
My only comment about your card (I like the "Haven't We Met?" questions on the back) is that I'd like to see some of the quality of the front brought into the design on the back...you could do that without defying the gods of minimalism! ;)

omg! that's a sweet bizcard there, Redfridge!!
- smellvetica0
i'm hearing ya.. i do like simplicity tho and a bit of litho.
still thinking on it :)

I know what you're saying vespa... and I really appreciate all of the comments (even if I'm missing a chunk of flesh on my ass!). I'm realizing that I need to step back and ask more questions of myself.
I've been experimenting with moving away from the minimalist look (though I do love it). I started this whole thing by toying around with a website redesign: http://www.monkeyshinemedia.com/….
Yeah, I know it looks nothing like my card...just trying to open up to ideas. Maybe I need to create a design brief like I do with clients..though that seems so touchy-feely.

nice one smelly, i am swinging to the varnish, lookin good.
monkey, i almost think you can get away with just the one side of the card ( the side with the MM) the full name is in the URL and to repeat the blur image on the back just to write out the studio name again seems unnecessary.

see i really like the city photo on that link. love the bleached out colour palette that comes from it. how would your white out logo look on top of that?

show us 1 or 2 more so we can compare or see options. is there a tiny stroke around monkeyshine? why? flowers doesnt say monkeyshine to me. keep workin on it, theres a lot of potential, try another image, other fonts, so on.
- monkeyshine0
ok. here is another version I've been working on. This would be a one sided card. Going more with colors, imagery on my new website, which I'm also working on.

We do web. print. and video work for the masses.. we are working on icyhot.com and sun-in.com and bullfrog.com now. web shit.
I hate web shit

i like the new design better...i think it would be stronger if you darkened the tones on the bottom (blurry) half...it would strengthen the contrast between top and bottom and clearly pop out the white contact info....
- jimeeboy510
much better! try some more! try what ganon said. this one looks a lot stonger then flowers.
