i have a sony 717 digicam, i got it at best buy and did the $99 insurance.. and basically i want to break it so i can return it, add $200 more and get a better camera. maybe the rebel.
they're telling me.. "we have our ways of checking if you broke it or it broke itself" which is probably bullshit.. but like, how can i break this shit making it look like sony's fault? you know exactly what i mean.thank you

hahahaha TRansfatty ROFL.
ahem, I got a 707 and dropped it on the mothernature asphalt when I was so drunk one day. The other day I turn it on, it gave me an error of some E34398%&% shit, it just didn't zoom at all. So breaking the zooming mechanism might be a good idea.
sidenote. I did turn it on and off several times and then it was working like a charm again and I am still using it with a little bruise on the sunfilters corner.

i'd rather not drop it. i wouldn't know how to open it up.
something else maybe?
maybe some way to mess with its circuits? like some electricity trick?

i got Comp USA's replacement warrenty on my Mac. I spilled coke in the keyboard, tried to take it back but apples's stupid transparent keyboard gave me away.
Solution: I ran my keyboard through the dishwasher and gave it a day to dry. It cleaned it right up. Replaced.

that's bullshit
first thing they'll do is check the circuit and check for any sign of water, rust etc...
i did work for Orange mobile phones, we were returning the phones immediatly and charging 70 euros for the check..you'll have to be smarter than putting water over it to get it replaced.. or be very v ery lucky

so what do you say hey?
waters too obvious. i vaguely remember hearing shit as a youngn' about magnets being able to kill electronic stuff. there has to be a method!

Microwave it. It might fuck the Microwave too though.

thats a good idea
maybe 30 seconds at a time?
- dstlb0
Leave it filming while it's in there, if it still works you'll have some quality footage.

if i do the microwave thing.. is there a chance it might leave any exterior marks.. maybe crack the lens or something? i don't want any signs on the outside.

My friend fried his PlayStation by accident doing this: He bought an AC adapter where you can adjust the voltage and the + / - of the current. Then, plug it into your camera, and mess with it til it fries the camera. Then you coul d say you just plugged it into the wall and it popped> but really you gave it the wrong amount of voltage..... Just an idea, never seen it done w/ a camera

i got a coolpix 4300 from bb...got beer spilled on it at some party, it stopped working, brought it back and got a brand new one without much of a fuss.
i say fully submerse it in an oderless, residue-less liquid like water, then dry it some accelerated way. i'd stay away from the microwave :)

haha spill beer on it. Thats funny...yer cam broke from a little beer. It must off been a pool of beer.

Tie one end of string to the camera and the other end to a door. Then slam the door closed.

One thing you shoudl kep in mind with BB is that the product might be a repair item where they woudl take the camera and fix it for you instead of replacing it. If that happens they;ll probably have it for 6 weeks and it'll come back more fucked than when you gave it to them.

i vote for nuking it. that would be hilarious.
