Comparing apples and oranges. NYC is 8 times the size, completely different history, geology, topography, climate (obviously). Its up to personal preference. I'd like to live in both someday.

Haha. How do you like that neighborhood?!? I guess you have aurthur ave not too far away, huh?

I enjoy the neighborhood a lot. Arthur Ave. is terrific, the best little italy in the country. The bakeries and butchers/delis are incredible. And the wine shop has all the best Euro wine for euro prices, it's great.

Yeah, I have to go over there sometime. I'm a 2 minute bus ride but I never find the time.

On the topic of SF vs NYC....
My personal vote is NYC. I could be partial simply because I grew up in the east.
I lived in SF for a year and left 12 months later. That should tell you something. Didn't jive. People seemed a bit fake, and yes, "know it all's".
NYC is straight from the hip. They tell you how it is...survival of the fitness mentality. It's a hard city, and thus spawns hard people......which I respect.
The areas around SF are wicked amazing, although I find SF to, as someone pointed out earlier, smell like piss.

I've lived in SF for 12 years and I still love this city!
Maybe cadler met the fake know it alls during the dot-com era when alot of people came and went.
Yes, PARTS of SF smell like piss, but isn't that true of every city?
The thing i love most about SF are all the Chinatowns scattered about...3 to be exact. NYC has the best Chinatown though.
My heart will always be in San Francisco....

i only went to SF once - wasnt super impressed... lots of homeless & seals....

another thing i love about SF are all the artists communities. Full of world traveling artists coming and going but always using SF as their base.

I noticed a lot of homeless in SF the one time I went also. Probably because they haven't been thrown in jail like were here.
