I was wondering if any of you use a Dell Juke Box to transfer files?

I want something to bring info back and forth from the office and my home and have been thinking this might be a good solution. Any advise on this?

Advice? Do it properly and don't buy the poor imitation, buy the real thing.
That's an iPod BTW.

it may cost you a bit more money... but it'll be a helluva lot more space...
... get your hands on an external harddrive that runs at 800 speed.... (1394 firewire) and use it for files / music etc -- and will go back and forth on pc and mac operating systems.
the apple store sells a Lacie that works well.

iPods are shit.
- battery issues
- not TRUE cross platform
they'll only work on mac or pc - but not both... if it's formatted for a mac and you hook it up to a pc - the pc will try and format it - and vice versa.oh... one other thing:
-WAY OVERPRICED

That's fair enough.
The Lacie is a good suggestion. I have one of the 40Gb Pocket Drives and it is very good. It's really robust as well...

however, remember that the more attractively priced D2 drives require you to plug in a power adapter when you need to use them and they're far too big to carry around often.

The DJ is not recognized by default as a harddrive. Something about how they format the drive to accept the music. If you can install software on your computer at work, it should work fine, though. Oh, spend $25 and get dudebox, and don't use the musicmatch it comes with.

thanks for the help. If I were to buy a 15 gig IPod do you think it would be a good solution for transfering files between a Win2K and WinXP machine. Would I need to but anything additional beyond the base model?

a 15gb iPod would be a great solution for you. I had a 5gb model and was able to store plenty of songs on it and had lots of space left over to transfer files back and forth between macs at school and home. It would be able to transfer files back and forth between PCs too. You don't need anything else, it comes with the proper cables. As long as you have a firewire port then you're all set. If you have USB 2.0 instead then you'll need an adapter cable.
