I went there about 10/11 months ago... fecking freezng and grim.
MAke sure you get a decent map... I had a map that had the names in english characters... and trying to decipher a street name was impossible.
Go and see Lenin thats good to see... and always have your passport with you... as there was a policeman who always pulled us up... (our hotel was next to red square) and there are cops all about...
On the sunday I got there I sat in the park near the square and everyone was walking around drinking cans of beer... even couples... and couples with kids... surreal!

be aware!!!
theres always freezing cold and snowing all the time (even in summer) and people are drinking only vodka.

bah, don't go to Moscow, go to Saint Petersburg. I lived there for most of my life and I can say that it's one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Moscow is just a big dirty tourist trap.

I was there a while ago. There are cool things there-the never ending escalators in the subways are pretty rad and the people are generally cool. But you should definitely go to St Petersburg.

Go clubbing. Moscovites really know how to have fun! I don't know if these clubs exist anymore, but here:
Four rooms
Hungry Duck *
Tretja put
PropagandaAfter the mayhem you need to chill-out, so go to the outdoor swimming pool near the olympic stadium.
St. Petersburg has a different vibe. It might be the NY if Moscow is LA.

Ah shit,
you going in the summer. The swimming bit was just some exotic fun for the winter.During the summer just go out to a park. Watch out for russian hotties sporting those crazy short skirts.
Don't miss out on your chance to really connect with russians. Go get drunk and find yourself hugging and singing with some Siberian wrestlers.
BTW. Never carry your passport. You should have a photocopy instead. Never admit you're an american, say you're an aussie or something.
