If your using PS only create a vertical line with the shape tool- add gradient to your liking- copy about 4 times- link- use transform perspective- tweak lower area- merge linked- copy- tip vertical ... rotate...extra.. If you in Ill its even easier...

- create a gradient made up of alternating colors (white, black, white, black, etc.)
- on a blank canvas, use the angle gradient tool.
refine gradient until desired results occur. or something like that.

the blend tool in Illustrator could do that in a jiffy... just set up your highlights and points as strokes, then blend between them..
In PS... I think the polar coordinates filter on a stripped image will do just about exactly that... just need to play witht he dimmensions to get it to wrap fully. (there's probably a calculation to figure them out)
