I will.
Can you tell me if a G4 400/500 will run PS, Freehand, Dreamweaver ok or will it give me a headache..?
I don't have more money to spend than that, unfortunately.

flash on a mac is v painful
- tomkat0
yeah, i wil keep a pc for flash.
And I don't want to turn this into a VS thread - only some experiences from users, please..thank you.

doh i just realised u didnt ask flash :) sorrah! i use ill/ps/dw on my mac its ok.. i feel like ps is faster but i think its just cuz i know the mac shortcuts lol
- tomkat0
thanks, tara.
but it's nice to associate flash with me immediately - thats what i use most of the time.. =)
- kpl0
well, I did work on a g4 450 for awhile so I know from experience. ps might be ok although I wouldn't do any drawing. dreamweaver is a pain. flash is a pain, but it's always a pain, and you didn't ask for flash.
dreamweaver is a bloated piece of crapware on mac...consider using bbedit if you can, especially on a 450.

talk about bloated. mx is is a pos. mx 2004 gets a little better, but still bloated
- tomkat0
thanks kpl. sounds like what i expected..
yes, bbedit - i only heard good from it.

What kind of video card? If you can upgrade that and keep a good chunk of ram in there, you shouldn't have any problems.

On my old machine (a 333mHz Powerbook G3), I have run Adobe Ill. 10, Photoshop 7, Indesign 1.5, Freehand 10, Quark 5, and others. The screen redraw is soooo slow. It has 512 RAM and is still slow, so my reccommendation is too save up or finance a new one.
You will definitely appreciate it once you have it. Man I did once I got my new iBook G4.

the one i spotted an eye on doesn't say which card..
what's minimum then?

flash is working fine on my G4. with PS and all the others running strong

i use fh10 and ps7 on a G3 500/640 and it runs fine. it would be better if my harddrive weren't so slow and had more free space though.

I was really hoping this was about skating switch-stance.

I have a 400, use all the apps you mentioned everyday with out a problem.
I have a GB of ram in mine so that might help with the speed a lil bit.
I hear Panther runs faster than Jag on these machines but i have yet to install it.

Just checked finances..
maybe I'd better go for a new one.will flash still run sluggy on an G4 1.25ghz..?

I run Flash,ILL,PS,Logic...etc on
dual 450
1.5 GBs of RAM
PantherEverything runs smooth as butter for me. Large PS files take a minute but it's not unbarable. I don't what the whole "flash is slow" story is. I use it daily, if I create an object or path or keyframe or XML or whatever it works just fine- it real time- it plays back just fine... I feel alot of the CD rom projects I've done were pretty flash intensive and everything worked cool for me.
The trick with ANY computer is RAMRAMRAMRAM.

Flash MX04 runs about 2/3 the speed on our new dual G5 as it does on my older 2.7ghrz PC. I love my Mac, but this is sad.
